National Theatre Wales is set to create bold, invigorating theatre in the English language, rooted in Wales, with an international reach.
Engaged
We aim to engage and involve you in surprising ways and unexpected places. We are building strong relationships with theatre makers, creative talents, participants and audiences in and beyond Wales. Everyone can be part of the National Theatre Wales community at nationaltheatrewales.org/community
Innovative
We will open up new possibilities in theatre, identifying topical issues and expressing them in surprising and imaginative ways. We are collaborating with a wide variety of artists and finding new ways for audiences to be part of our work.
We will strive to be pioneering in the work we make and the way we make it.
International
National Theatre Wales will bring directors and companies from across the world to work with Welsh artists, actors and participants, creating new languages of theatre. We will make links with key festivals and venues to present Welsh work internationally. We will partner with other ‘small countries with big neighbours’ and places where we share connections, stories and ambitions. National Theatre Wales will always aim to create work that is of international standard in its aesthetics and execution.

National Theatre Wales is all set to create invigorating theatre in the English language, rooted in Wales, with an international reach.
Here is the launch programme from March 2010 – April 2011 - twelve new shows, one each month, plus one spectacular finale - in amazing places and unique spaces across Wales.
With engagement as a core value, National Theatre Wales will aim to be at the forefront of learning and participation in theatre in Wales and internationally. We will centralise learning and participation in all of our activity. When we make work for young people it will be part of our core programme. Community engagement and participation will be a feature of every single piece of work we make. We aim to forge partnerships with learners, educators, schools, colleges and academies on the broadest scale: from making work for babies to co-sponsoring a PhD.
We will be using this website to share a wide range of resources with teachers and students, and will be hosting online debates, visits to rehearsals, discusssions and special events for all of our work. Watch this space! We would be very interested in your feedback and thoughts as we continue to grow and develop our education strategies and relationships.
National Theatre Wales is founded on our community of artists - emerging and established - in, from, and beyond Wales. You can find our Casting Policy as well as our Guidelines for Artists here, and any other policies can be requested at any time by contacting us.

We put sustainability at the heart of the work we make, the way we make it, tell you about it, and the way we function as an organisation. We believe that climate change is a real, urgent issue which contains social, economic, local, global, equality, human rights and well-being priorities.
This is why we are developing a sustainability policy and it will be available here soon. This policy will contain strategies and commitments that aim to be holistic and apply a sustainability filter to all of our choices and operations.
