National Theatre Wales

Hello, I'm Michelle Carwardine-Palmer
I am the Managing Director

I’ve come from a joint chief executive role as Executive Director at Salisbury Playhouse, a venue-based producing theatre, where I was responsible for the creation and delivery of business strategy, HR and income generation enabling the organisation to thrive during an incredibly tough economic climate.

Prior to this I worked as the General Manager at The Corn Exchange and New Greenahm Arts in Newbury, a middle scale receiving house and arts centre. I have also worked within a marketing and administrative capacity for a venue based theatre-in-education organisation at the Barbican Theatre in Plymouth and as Front of House Manager at Wycombe Swan.

Academically I graduated from Trinity St Davids with a B.A. (Hons) in Theatre and English, have a Diploma in Arts Management and attended the Clore Leadership short course and was invited to attend the Clore CEO/Chairman's network.

My role at National Theatre Wales is a new executive position and reflects the organisation's ambitions to build the strongest possible base from which to grow and create ever more exciting productions. I am very excited to be a part of the NTW team and look forward to building on robust administrative systems and strategy to support our work and development opportunities to diversify our income streams.
