A
TEAM Collective project by Ryan Romain

Call out for emerging writers

We are looking for four emerging writers to write a radio play in a day inspired by the theme ‘emergence’.

This can be any genre you choose, with a cast size of up to eight and no longer than 15 minutes long. This must be an original piece, never performed before.

Call out for emerging directors

We are looking for two emerging directors with a passion for new writing to direct two of the successful radio plays in a day.

A note about National Theatre Wales

Whilst we work towards a new vision and future, we are continuing to support theatre makers, artists and creatives through NTW TEAM programmes supported by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which is being administered by Cardiff Council.

This activity includes the launch of new NTW TEAM initiatives Young Collective, TEAM Collective and The City Socials, a series of events that will pop up in spaces all around Cardiff over the next few months. Keep your eyes peeled on our social media and newsletter for the next events.

About

Over the next year, our TEAM Collective are hosting events, activities and discussions to provide opportunities for a wide range of people to get involved in our work and engage in the arts.

Ryan Romain is passionate about new writing, developing creatives and emerging artists. His aim with this project is to share stories from communities across Cardiff, connect talented individuals and engage audiences in a new way.

How we'll support you

Successful writers will be given:

  • £150 to write the play (we expect you to spend no more than 7 hours creating)
  • A recording of the finished production
  • Dramaturgical support from Ryan Romain, who has extensive experience with new writing.

Successful directors will be given:

  • £150 fee for a day’s direction (we expect this to be no longer than 7 hours)
  • A recording of the finished production
  • Directing support from Ryan Romain, who has extensive experience with new writing.
Who we’re looking for

As this programme is funded by Shared Prosperity Funding via Cardiff Council, we’re looking for emerging artists who live in a Cardiff Council county ward.

We're particularly interested in hearing from artists or groups who are typically underrepresented in the arts including marginalised identities, working class, global majority, disabled and/or neurodivergent.
