Justin Teddy Cliffe
Creative AssociateHey
I make theatre; on stages and in other places. I do this because I think there are not a lot of things more powerful than a shared experience and a live event. At National Theatre Wales I will be continuing to make work, whilst also supporting early career artists to explore new work. With a focus on supporting emerging artists who feel under-represented in the sector, I’m up for meeting, chatting and figuring out if and how NTW can support your ambition and your ideas.
All good things start with ambition and ideas, and I like being someone who helps people figure out how to combine those two things. As I continue to make work that connects people in unique ways, I want to support others to do the same. Through co-creating, changing, making, communicating and just having a go, we can make all kinds of amazing things happen.
Within my role as Creative Associate, I will be supporting emerging artists who live in Cardiff, and feel under-represented in the arts. ‘Emerging’ can mean a lot of different things, so it’s up to you to decide if and how you might be emerging. You don't need to have had any formal training or specific experience, we're just keen to connect with people who envisage having a future in theatre, or simply have a story/moment/feeling/experience they want to share with others, right now.
For me, theatre is about risk and shared experience. When it works, it connects us in ways no other art form can.
